help i’m bored, so i eat…
Some of you may or may not be bored eaters but I’m gonna go ahead and say that most of us are.
Eating has become a hobby to emotionally fill hearts and souls, and also make our day less boring -- or at least we think it does. It takes you about 10 minutes tops to eat and after those 10 minutes you’re still bored and now either feel incredibly full, spoiled your dinner (which probably would have tasted better).
The worst thing to do while bored eating is eating in front of the TV. We eat with our eyes, so this means if we can’t really see everything we’re eating or aren’t paying attention and are watching TV then our brains are not comprehending how much we’re ingesting. I’m sure there are times you took a bag of chips to the couch and an hour later after your show was over you were amazed that you almost finished the entire bag without even realizing.
Next time you eat in front of the TV measure yourself a portion size, which can be found at the top of the nutrition label of the package ("serving size"). Put it in a bowl and then put the product away, far out of reach.
